Australia - FOXTEL is launching a BBC HD channel as one of their new HD services this Sunday. Torchwood will be heavily featured, probably premiering in the next few days. Wouldn't it be lovely if they had some sort of schedule somewhere so that the people who had access to the channel had any clue what shows were airing when? Please - make this paragraph out of date. Rush some proper information out. Not just for BBC HD - there does not seem to be information for any of the new BBC HD channels. |
UK - the UKTV channel suite is getting a makeover. As part of the changes, a new contemporary drama channel (name not revealed yet) should launch in September, with Torchwood as part of its lineup. |

Canada - SPACE http://www.spacecast.com has purchased Torchwood. The Series 2 premiere will be on Friday 8 August (Series 1 already aired on the CBC, in French on Ztele, and is running on HD Net Canada - they assume it has been seen by Canadians already, and it can be rerun later). Thanks to Barrowman Online http://www.barrowmanonline.com for breaking the news and Mark Askwith of SPACE for confirming it in the SPACE discussion forum http://forums.spacecast.com . SPACE has a reputation of airing shows full length and in their proper aspect ratios. Evening/late night airings of programs tend to be uncensored, so in theory these should be the complete episodes. They do not have a high definition channel at this time, so I am hoping that HD Net Canada can rerun Series 2 down the road the way they did Series 1. Time will tell. The purchase by SPACE does resolve any doubt - the CBC has given up on Torchwood. They still have Doctor Who. |
I am trying to find websites and station information for some of the more elusive Torchwood sales. If you spot it airing or getting ready to air in your country, and I've missed it, let me know so it gets into the next edition and more fans get informed. |
